Momentum Coaching

When Kevin Arnold was made redundant after 30 years with the same company, he decided to turn his life long interest in personal development and empowerment into a new career and follow his dream of running his own business.

Kevin visited his local Careers Wales office and learnt about ReAct funding, provided by the Welsh government to enable people who have been made redundant to retrain. He underwent training for NLP and became a qualified practitioner.

Through working with A4E (a public service provider, which helps people return to work) on his business plan, Kevin was introduced to Prime Cymru, a charity specifically supporting the over-50s get back into work in Wales. Through Prime Cymru, Kevin began working with Ann Lewis, a Barclays Bank Manager who became his business mentor.

Kevin now provides one-to-one therapy/coaching sessions, helping his clients with a wide range of issues such as giving up smoking, losing weight or overcoming a fear or phobia. His company, Momentum Coaching, incorporates Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques with personal coaching. It aims to empower individuals and to help them become the person they want to be, living the life they really deserve.

Over the last 6 months, Kevin’s regular calls with Anne have really helped him to focus on the progress he is making; and Anne has been a sounding board for different ideas for marketing the business.

Kevin has found the mentoring service extremely helpful, saying “My regular chats with Ann are really useful; it is great to be able to bounce ideas and also get feedback on my progress. I found it reassuring to have someone at the end of a phone offering encouragement and support.”

Ann also found the mentoring relationship rewarding: “As I have also got an interest in NLP and self development, it has been a fantastic opportunity for me to support Kevin in getting his business off the ground and seeing him start to build a client base, which will hopefully go from strength to strength. It has been an opportunity for me to be involved in something completely different from my day-to-day role, and I have also learnt a lot. Kevin’s positivity and determination to change his life following redundancy is a tremendous advert for his business.”
